Member Participation

The Council:
All members of the council are members are volunteers. This is the governing body for CAFA. The council meets several times a year to conduct all CAFA business. They work within the framework of a written constitution, historic precedence, and external events.

Elected Office:
From within the council, administrative officers with specific duties are elected.
• The President: The President is elected to represent the academy as its spokesperson and leader. This position can only be filled by an Artist Member.
• The Vice President and Artistic Director: The primary responsibility is the production of the annual exhibition. This position can only be filled by an Artist Member.
• The Vice President and Counsel: The council is in charge of matters of procedure and contract.
• The Vice President and Director of Marketing: This position entails many forms of communication. The promotion of academy activities and the visual presentation of CAFA publications and web site.
• Treasurer:

• Corresponding Secretary


Committees:
Committees are organized to implement the needs of the organization. All members of CAFA may head a committee. Committee functions include such activities as receiving artwork for exhibition, working on the newsletter or web site, hospitality etc.

Vote:
All major changes in policy, funding are subject to a vote by members of the council. Constitutional adjustments are voted on by the membership present during a general meeting.

 

CAFA Publications

CAFA Newsletter:
The newsletter and the CAFA web site are the primary vehicles of communication to the membership.

Exhibition Catalog:
The catalog is a record the annual exhibition.
It honors the artists who are showing and documents each award.
It also lists the current membership and officers. The catalog lives beyond the term of the exhibition and is an archival document.

Web Site: www.ctacademy.org
The web site is a 24/7 gallery space for the organization. It is our personal, national and international presence. It explains our organization, catalogs our shows, and honors the membership. It is used to present information about our activities and provide contact and exhibition information.

New for 2007:

Personal artist page: Each artist member is now entitled to a web page on the CAFA site. This page is linked to the members name. It is an individual gallery space which includes up to 4 pictures and captions, copy space for an artist statement or biographical material and optional contact information: (e-mail, link to personal site, phone, address)
