A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR
The concept for a first-time members’ show was hatched in late 2020 and I am thrilled to say, has delivered a slew of both new and reinstated past members into our organization. We went in unaware of the turnout, and aside from the incredibly unsettling past year, the response from our artists was really remarkable. The chance for us to feature the works of our member artists is always a privilege and receiving the works felt like Christmas all over again.
CAFA+ Members drew 140 artists together for our debut show, featuring stunning works of all subjects and mediums. Kudos to our six award winners for their outstanding pieces and a sincere thank you to all who submitted their work for representation. Four of the award winners are on view at the Finer Line Gallery in downtown Mystic, CT for the duration of the show. We appreciate the opportunity to be in partnership with this lovely, intimate space to provide a physical aspect of the show despite the current restrictions that we are facing.
On behalf of all of us at CAFA, thank you for your continued support and a big welcome to all our newest members. We count on every one of you to help keep our 100+ year old art organization alive and kicking.
Here’s looking ahead in 2021: for inspiration, hope, unity, fulfillment and more CAFA+ shows. We hope to see you all back for our Annual Juried Exhibition this summer!
The CAFA team is thrilled to start the new year with our first ever members’ show. Congratulations to the prize winners and thanks to all who participated. Special thanks to our Director, Gabrielle Robinson, and members of the CAFA Council who worked hard to bring this show to fruition. This is the inauguration of our CAFA+ theme, additional CAFA+ offerings are on the “drawing board,” more on that in the near future. In the meantime, here’s wishing you a happy, healthy and artistic 2021!

The CAFA+ Members exhibition is a resounding success for all who participated. This is a large and diverse exhibition that aspires to high artistic standards in practically every medium available to artists these days. In light of the diversity and the strong artistic achievement overall it was difficult for us as jurors to isolate and designate the award winners. For all of the right reasons this is how it should be for an exhibition of this kind. The practicing artists who are members of an organization like CAFA that has supported and fostered the creative artist for more than one hundred years deserve a forum where each artistic voice is put on fair exhibition and judged by their peers and others for creative merit and overall artistic expression and achievement. We as member jurors aspired to these standards and worked to the best of our ability and experience to select a diverse group of award winners that we feel represent the artistic values of our membership. We sincerely thank all who participated and offer our congratulations to each of you for your fine work and support of CAFA.
