CAFA's
Mission
Encourage artistic achievement and excellence in the arts

Recognize a diversity of style and medium

Provide a forum to advance the efforts of accomplished artists
The Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) is now over 100 years old and continues to carry out the important mission envisioned by our founders. CAFA is the sum of its members. Today, we are proud to count 384 artists as members, with 277 of them having been awarded Elected status. Our membership includes painters in all media, sculptors, photographers and creators of fine art in all its forms. Over the years, CAFA has called many fine institutions home, including the Hartford Atheneum, the Slater Museum in Norwich, the Mystic Museum of Art, and most recently, the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts. Our annual juried show is one of the most competitive in all of Connecticut, attracting artists from all over the United States and recently parts of Europe. We accept submissions digitally online as well as the traditional carry-in method. CAFA employs jurors, offers very competitive prizes, and issues a museum quality catalog. Our legacy in the art world, our dedicated and talented membership, and our commitment to staying relevant in the 21st century make CAFA an important element in promoting fine art in all its forms. We hope to be around for another 100 years.
