Catherine Radix Mansell is an artist member of the Connecticut Academy of Fine Art, the Mystic Museum of Art, the Rhode Island Watercolor Society, and the Sumi-e Society of America. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Rhode Island Watercolor Society and has served as a teaching docent at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum in Providence, Rhode Island. She was appointed Proctor at the Brown University Sarah Doyle Center for Women and Gender. Her responsibilities in that position included shared management the Center's Gallery during her Brown University graduate studies.

Catherine's minimalist style reflects the natural environment and the power of abstraction. Her work is distinctive and identifiable, whether Asian-influenced Sumi-e paintings or oil paintings. She also often uses Chinese or Japanese ink and papers. Living in Maine during many summers and studying Asian brush painting there with Master Sumi-e artist Frederica Marshall has proven to be the strongest influence on her work. John Marin, whose work she also greatly admires, once lived on the same island.

After twenty years of living in New York City and Providence, Rhode Island, Catherine moved her home and studio to Westerly, Rhode Island where she lives with her husband, Anthony. She has gallery representation in Deer Isle, Maine, exhibited at numerous Rhode Island, Connecticut and New York galleries, and is a recipient of many awards.
