Luis Alfonzo

Luis Alfonzo is a visual artist and professional engineer. Born in Caracas, VE, he currently resides in Connecticut.

His formal art education began at the Educational Center for the Arts in New Haven, where he was introduced to traditional visual media such as acrylic and watercolor painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. Luis attended UConn where he was introduced to digital media such as 3D modeling/rendering as well as sound and video manipulation.

These days, Luis prefers painting with oils and acrylics, and intaglio printmaking. Life is too short to not diversify your mediums, creativity, and mind, so whenever he feels he’s being redundant or repetitive in his practice, he takes a step back and reevaluates.

Luis is currently working on a series of paintings that tie his bridge engineering career with his visual style. He is also working a series called Inside-Out, which reflect on the topics of sanity and mental health and current events, whether personal or at large.
