Kate Henderson is a visual artist, educator, and current Director of Kehler Liddell Gallery in New Haven. She earned a BFA in Painting, a BA in Art History and Anthropology at Indiana University, her MFA at Yale University in Painting and Printmaking, and later an MBA at Albertus College. She is especially interested in materials and techniques and trained with Bernard Chaet at Yale University.

Her interests range from using traditional pastels and oils to digital media and installations. Her artwork focuses on referential abstraction using a strong gestural line often referencing a memory/sense of place, personal narratives, and mythology.

Kate describes her work: “In forming my abstract worlds, I aim for a specifically arresting visual phrase to emerge, causing the eye to linger, repeat, and penetrate to deeper layers. Creating such a place feels like bringing something back from almost invisibility or near extinction.”
